Need a ride to the polls on village election day?

Posted

On Saturday March 6 at 12 noon there will be a dedication ceremony for the new Veteran’s Corner sign. It is located at the corner of Goodwill Rd. and Roosevelt Ave. in the Village of Montgomery.
The area is dedicated to our veterans with love and thanks for your service.

The Valley Central School District will be conducting Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-21 school-year during the month of March. Specific dates and times will vary according to building. Only those children who will be five years old on or before December 1, 2020 will be enrolled for the upcoming school year. Parents should call their local elementary school as soon as possible to assure their child’s name is on the mailing list to receive registration information. Registration packets will be mailed approximately three weeks prior to the registration date for each individual building.
Please note: Current Valley Central Universal Pre-K students DO NOT need to re-enroll, but should notify the District if they will not be attending in September. For more information, please contact your local elementary school or Janine Maridou, Central Registrar, at 457-2400, ext. 18130.

Corrected hours for the Montgomery Free Library are: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, hours are 10 am to 12 noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Browsing by appointment hours are: 10 to 11:30 a.m, call the library at 457-5616. I just finished reading “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Michele Richardson. It is historical fiction based on the true woman who were Kentucky’s Pack Horse Librarians. Comprised from research about these ladies who rode in the 1930’s bringing books, magazines etc. to the residents of the Appalachia thanks to a program started by President Roosevelt. It also delves into the blue people of Kentucky who really had blue skin due to a blood disorder. It was OK but I enjoyed “The Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes more and it was also about the Pack Horse Librarians.

By now I am sure you have heard about the financial troubles our Montgomery Free Library is facing. Any donated amount would be greatly appreciated.
To make a donation to our deserving library, mail or drop off your donation to the Library at 133 Clinton St. Montgomery. I can’t imagine our area without the library.

I just want to congratulate all the employees of the various village and town highway departments. They have done a wonderful job clearing and keeping our roads clean from all the snow and ice storms this winter all hours of the night and day. Keep up the good job, you are appreciated.

Make your voices heard and vote in the upcoming Village of Montgomery election. It will be held on March 16th from 8 am to 9 pm at the Senior Center.
Don’t use the excuse “I don’t have a ride” when you can call the Dial A Ride that services the Town of Montgomery and Crawford. The bus runs Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fare is only $1 one way, thats the best bargain around especially with the increasing gas prices.

For more on this call 457-2622. Keep in mind a 24 hour advance notice is needed.
