Village of Montgomery Police Chief Steven Walsh was recognized at the Tuesday, March 3, 2020, Board of Trustees meeting for nine years of dedicated service to the Village of Montgomery and its residents.

“It’s bittersweet that I present this plaque. You were an asset to the Village- very professional and had a great deal of integrity with your job. You brought your years of experience as a Sergeant from the Town of Wallkill with you. We’re certainly going to miss you and hopefully you’re only a phone call away for certain advice. Steve I can’t thank you enough. Your leadership and commitment are genuinely appreciated,” shared Village of Montgomery Mayor L. Stephen Brescia.

Outgoing Chief Walsh thanked the Board for its support over the years and expressed his admiration for Village of Montgomery residents.

“It’s been an honor to be here and in the last five years as the Chief of Police officially. We’ve had a lot of great things accomplished here in the Village and also went through a lot of trying times in this department. I have to give a lot of credit to Mayor Brescia and the Village of Montgomery Board for standing by me on some difficult decisions that had to be made and for their constant support. Also, thank you to the residents of the Village you really are an anomaly in Orange County where you actually appreciate your police department and support us 100% and it doesn’t go unseen. Thank you and I am only a phone call away,” shared Walsh.

Later in the meeting, William Herlihy was sworn in as part time Acting Police Chief.
