The Knight of Columbus 2270 will be having their annual Martin Luther King Blood Drive on Monday January 20. It will be held from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Holy Name of Mary Church Hall. Give the gift of life.

The Sisters of Beta Sigma Phi met at Fran Empie’s home this week to celebrate the New Year and make plans for the coming year. They had a fun time making homemade valentine cards to give to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney for the Valentines for Veterans Program.
The door prize was won by lucky Nancy Petrolo. The ladies will celebrate the Chinese Near Year (Year of the Rat) during the next meeting at Daxxon Chinese Restaurant in Walden at the end of the month.

The Weekly Senior Events for the week of January 13 - January 17 at the Montgomery Senior Center are: Wednesday - 9 a.m. Walk 15 ~ 1 p.m. Pickleball, Thursday - 10 a.m., Chair Yoga -11 Healthy Hot Chocolate with Sue Nichols , Friday - 9 a.m. Cards and Games. There will be NO Computer Ed on Thursday January 16. Thursday January 16 at 11 a.m. there will be a Healthy Hot Chocolate Bar with Sue Nichol.

Attention Students! Raise your SAT scores! The Valley Central Scholarship Council is sponsoring SAT Prep Classes at the Valley Central High School on Tuesdays.

It will be held from February 18- April 14 (snow dates 4/21 and 4/28) from 5:30 - 8 p.m. The cost is $260 (includes books).

The Valley Central School District announces its anticipated continued participation with the grant funded New York State half-day and full-day Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program for the 2020-2021 school year. Services for the anticipated half-day and full-day UPK program will be provided through our locally approved UPK Providers rather than through a district run program.
A Parent Information Night and Vendor Fair will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 7 p.m. in the Berea Elementary School cafeteria. Applications for the 2020-2021 UPK program will be available that evening and will also be available for download on the UPK web site beginning that day.

The Knights of Columbus annual Free Throw contest will be held on Saturday Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. It will be at the Montgomery Elementary School, registration begins at 10 a.m. and the contest begins at 10:30 am.

It is open to boys and girls ages 9-14. Sponsors are needed for the program. Monetary donations and /or good or services are gratefully accepted.

The Montgomery Senior Center is sponsoring a Defensive Driving Certification Class on Saturday January 18, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Center. Individuals completing the class will be entitled to a reduction on their auto insurance and a reduction of 4 points on their driver’s license. Class size is limited and priority will be given to Montgomery residents (non residents will be put on a waiting list and notified as space is available). Cost is $25 and includes snacks and drinks. Checks should be made payable to NYSCHECKMATE DDC. Please stop by or call the Senior Center at 845-457-9367 to sign up.

The Montgomery Book Exchange Book Club will meet on Wednesday, January 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. to discuss “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate. Free coffee and tea. The Montgomery Book Exchange Book Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 5 to 6 p.m.
