Mondelez International opens new sales distribution center

Mondelēz International held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new warehouse in Montgomery last Tuesday. The warehouse will distribute iconic snacks such as Oreos, Triscuits and Wheat Thins throughout the state.

Town Supervisor Rodney Winchell and vice president of U.S. customer service and logistics at Mondelēz, Patricia Gabriel, cut the ribbon. After that, Mondelēz employees and executives gathered in the warehouse’s conference room. They discussed their experiences working at Mondelēz. A video of the construction of the warehouse was also shown. During this meeting, Winchell added that he was pleased that Mondelēz moved its warehouse to Montgomery.
“Having businesses come in fuels the economy and provides jobs,” Winchell said.

Following the meeting in the conference room, Mondelēz employees gave a tour of the new facility. The brand new sales distribution center features a 100,000-square-foot facility. The facility has a much larger parking lot than the previous warehouse in Newburgh. There are parking spots for 37 trucks. In addition, the new sales distribution center features improved trucks. One model has sensors that go off if the driver is too close to another car. In addition, this model is more compact, which allows for the vehicle to fit underneath trestles in the boroughs of New York City. There is also snow removal equipment in the parking lot.

The inside of the warehouse features improvements as well. As a safety precaution, sensors go off if there are too many people walking in the aisles. Equipment is neatly labeled and organized against the walls. In addition, safety guidelines are posted throughout the warehouse.

After moving its sales distribution center to Newburgh, Mondelēz International has come back to Montgomery. Laurie Guzzinati, head of corporate and government affairs for Mondelēz International in North America, noted that keeping the warehouse in Orange County was important.

“This is an important geography given its close proximity to the city and the boroughs,” Guzzinati said. “This is a homecoming for us.”
