Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Office for the Aging (OFA) Director AnnMarie Maglione accepted 10,000 pounds of food from Milmar Food Group on Wednesday to benefit the County’s Senior Meals Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I want to thank Milmar Food Group for its generosity during this great time of need in our community,” Neuhaus said. “In this unprecedented time, providing our residents with a nutritious, delicious meal takes on even more importance. I’m proud of the OFA’s compassion and hard work during this challenging time and appreciate that Milmar has taken a vested interest in helping the County in this way.”

The OFA will distribute the assortment of food and prepared meals throughout Orange County. According to Maglione, the OFA provides approximately 1,100 meals per day and that number has continued to grow during the COVID-19 pandemic. Maglione added that OFA will share some of Milmar’s donation with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

The Office for the Aging’s Senior Meals program helps provide seniors with fresh, nutritious meals. During the COVID-19 crisis, the State has waived the over 65 years-of-age regulations for the Office for the Aging and they have been assisting the needy of all ages in Orange County.

“This generous donation from Milmar will provide important meals to older adults and other residents throughout the County,” Maglione said. “We are grateful for Milmar’s support of our Senior Meals Program and we thank them for their generosity. This is just another example of local businesses stepping up for the benefit of our residents and working to get through this together.”
