Maria Elena Witt of Walden, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Newburgh. She was 78.
The daughter of the late Jose F. and Lucille M. Leonard Gonzalez, she was born August 02, 1941 in Havana, Cuba.
Elena, as she was known, lived in Walden for the last 4 decades. A tireless worker, she pursued several different occupations and owned a craft store in Wallkill, NY. As an adult student, she received a bachelors degree in business from SUNY New Paltz.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Witt Sr. of Walden; daughter Anna Pineda of Wallkill; son Howard Witt Jr. and his wife, Patricia Witt of Middletown; sister Maria Janesky of Orange City, FL; granddaughters Emily Diaz and her husband, Michael Diaz of Hershey, PA and Ashley Witt of Middletown; grandsons Jarrett Pineda of Wallkill and David Witt of Brooklyn; Great-grandson Benjamin Diaz of Hershey, PA; and several aunts, uncles, cousins.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her Brother-in-law Gordon Janesky of Orange City, FL
A funeral service was held Sunday, November 3, at Millspaugh Funeral Home, Walden, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or Walden Humane Society, P.O. Box 135, Walden, NY 12586.
