Jane Schimpf receives 2019 Joseph E. Dineen Award

Jane Schimpf was presented with the 2019 Joseph E. Dineen Award for Volunteerism in the Village of Maybrook on Monday night. This annual award goes to a resident in the village who goes above and beyond as a volunteer.

Dineen was a trustee on the village board from 1990-2002 and village mayor from 2002-2006. During his tenure, he did a tremendous amount of volunteering and worked tirelessly on recreation programs. Since 2005, an award has been given in his honor.

This year’s award recipient, Jane, along with her husband Bill became residents in the Village of Maybrook in 1973 where they raised their son Tom and established deep roots in the community. Jane worked as a court clerk and deputy village clerk in Maybrook from 1980-2002. In years past, she volunteered and chaperoned the Village of Maybrook recreation program dances. Jane also taught religious education classes.

Thereafter, and for many years, she was the treasurer for the Maybrook Catholic Daughters of America, while also managing to create and run several successful clothing drives for those in need.

After being an active volunteer member of its organization, on April 26, 2016, she was elected president of the Maybrook Golden Links Senior Club; a position she still holds today. Under her leadership, the Golden Links have grown tremendously in both membership and recognition. The village board is thankful for Jane’s contributions to the community.

“The Village of Maybrook is proud to have one of the most successful senior clubs in Orange County, which is because of the leadership and direction by this individual,” said Mayor Dennis Leahy. “It is with these thoughts and recognition, that the Village of Maybrook Board of Trustees proudly present Jane Schimpf with the 2019 Joseph E. Dineen Award for Volunteerism in the Village of Maybrook.”
