Herlihy named Walden Provisional Chief of Police

Posted

William Herlihy was appointed Walden’s provisional chief of police on July 31 after longtime Chief Jeffry Holmes retired.

This is not the first time Herlihy has worked for the Walden Police Department. He previously worked there in 1994 before accepting a full-time police officer position with the Town of Wallkill Police Department.

In addition to his role as Walden’s provisional chief of police, he also serves as the Village of Montgomery chief of police. He took over the role in the Village of Montgomery on March 7 when Steven Walsh’s resignation took effect.

Herlihy will fill in until Walden hires a permanent chief of police. The village is still going through the hiring process, with no definite date regarding the announcement of the new hire.
