Many local residents are not aware of valuable services available to them in our area. Walden Sunshine Society organized over 100 years ago is available to loan out medical equipment, free of charge for a three month period to those in need. This service is provided for residents of Maybrook, Montgomery, Pine Bush, Walden and Wallkill. For information call Anita at 778-772, Sue at 778-3532.

Walden Sunshine Society members, friends and relatives send Happy Birthday wishes to Dolly Micieli who will celebrate her 90th Birthday on January 26. I am blessed that Dolly is my long time neighbor and faithful friend. Enjoy your special day Dolly .
Well known Walden resident Anna Berrian will celebrate her special day on January 28. May it be the best ever!

Remember to mark your calendar to attend the American Legion Post 158 annual Winter BBQ at the Walden VFW on Sunday January 26, 12 noon until 3 p.m. This event is free to all veterans and active duty military with a cost of $5 to all others. Let’s take every opportnity to honor our veterans.

The Walden Historical Society will hold a fundraiser at Franco’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, 74 Oak Street, Walden on Tuesday, January 28, 5 – 9 p.m. Dine in or take out. 20% of your meal purchase will be donated to support the Historical society. You must use a coupon to participate. Coupons are available at the Josephine-Louise Public Library, on line or a historical society member. Call 778-7772 for information. Most Precious Blood School, Ulster Avenue, Walden will celebrate Catholic Schools Week the last week of January. Principal Woodrow Hallaway and the teachers invite all prospective students to visit the school for some fun activities.
Monday, January 27 is Literary Character Day. Guest readers will be in each classroom. Tuesday is Career Day. Come learn about some exciting careers from our guests. On Wednesday, they will pray the living Rosary, Fifth graders will graduate from the DARE program, and there will be a spelling bee. There will be presentations from educators at the Museum of the Hudson Highlands on Thursday.
On Friday students will participate in a Crazy Auction and there will be a friendly game of bingo. Please call the school office at 778-3028 for additional information. Hope to see you there.

On Thursday, January 30, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., please visit the Walden Savings Bank, 2 Bank Street, Walden to help celebrate the well-deserved retirement of Kathy Roosa. Many within our community know Kathy from the years spent at Roosa’s Jewelers prior to joining the Walden Savings Bank.
Please stop by to wish Kathy all life’s best and partake in some light refreshments.

Be sure to visit the Walden Humane Society 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden on Saturday, February 1, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for their next indoor yard sale. New items arrive at the shelter and all sales benefit the animals at the shelter. Do consider bringing some wet or dry dog and/or cat food to donate. For information call 778-5115. Calculated Confections, located at 81 E Main Street, Walden invites children to sign up for a Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating Party scheduled to be held at the Bakery on Saturday, February 8 either 1 – 3 p.m. or 3:30 – 5 p.m. Each child will get 2 heart shaped sugar cookies to decorate with icing and sprinkles. Remember to sign up for “Hand Weave a Scarf “ with Beth on Thursday, January 30, 6 p. m. We will use yarn and repurposed wool on a hand made cardboard loom. For ages 10 years and up.
