Crawford pays tribute to Veterans

Town of Crawford police chief Dominick Blasko led the Veteran’s Day ceremony in Pine Bush last Wednesday. Members of local veteran’s groups including the Pine Bush American Legion Post 1308, Catholic War Veterans Post 1937, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5492, were all represented.

During the service, Blasko said, “Our veterans are important to us. If they need any help, ask us, we are here to help. Also, all of our local veteran’s organizations are looking for members.” The Chief also included a famous quote by President Ronald Reagan, “Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world. A veteran does not have that problem.”

Crawford Supervisor Charles Carnes and Orange County Legislator Rob Sassi also spoke, offering their gratitude and recognition of all veterans.

Vietnam veteran and Chaplain Conrad Flickenschild delivered both the invocation and benediction as the rain fell slowly and gently on those gathered. Following the event, Flickenschild said, “We have an awesome town, and we thank our veterans for all their support at all times.”

Following the observance in the park, all were invited to the Crawford Town Hall for refreshments sponsored by the Crawford PBA.
