Biden and the Catholic Church

Posted

We’ve all heard by now of the South Carolina priest who denied former VP Joe Biden Holy Communion because of his pro-choice stance on abortion. Things like this often make me wonder just how much politicians love their Catholic faith.

Here’s the question: do Catholic politicians love their Catholic faith enough to reject abortion? Whether you are in politics or if you are a private citizen, your first responsibility is to uphold church teaching. It’s unfortunate that many of the people we put in office snub their Catholic faith and choose to be liberal. The same can be said of Gov. Cuomo- a staunch defender of abortion, yet a Catholic.

Friends, the South Carolina priest did not do this to be mean. It’s that you can’t have both. When you embrace liberal teachings, you step outside the Catholic faith. Mr. Biden and Mr. Cuomo, this needs to change. Your Catholic faith needs to be your priority in your life. When you say you’re a Catholic, you embrace all her teachings.

Let’s hope and pray that this will one day change.
