John Revella, Village Manager of the Village of Walden announced at the November 17th Village Board meeting that John Elliott, Walden resident had taken the oath of office to assume the position as Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Village of Walden. Mr. Elliott will complete the term previously filled by Faith Ann Moore who had retired. Best wishes John in your new position.
Final Day for collection of yard waste in the Village of Walden is Thursday, December 3. Keep in mind that Section 166-3C cites that no person shall sweep grass clippings into or deposit in any gutter, street or other public place within the Village any accumulation of litter from any building or lot.

Christmas is in the air. Are you looking for a unique gift? You may be familiar with Robert Score, formerly of Montgomery, talented artist noted for his pen and ink drawings.. This year Bob was scheduled to present a live art showing of his amazing pen and ink drawings at the Jacob T. Walden House. However, the program unfortunately had to be canceled due to Covid-19. In place of the showing, Bob has donated several prints as a fundraiser for the Walden Historical Society. Three unframed prints of the iron bridge in Montgomery, three prints of the Montgomery Wallkill Valley steam engine and prints of the Walden railroad station in winter are available.
Each print measures 10’ x 14”. They are offered for sale at $25. If mailing is needed there is a charge of $5 for handling plus postage. For information call Anita at 778-7772; Sandy at 845-401-2795 or Barbara at 845-220-6606.

Great News! Mike Bliss, Parks and Recreation Director sends word that Christmas in the Square will be held on Thursday, December 3. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with caroling by the Fox Hill Community. Freedom Road Bible Church will present a live nativity at 6:50 p.m. New York School of Music will present Christmas carols at 7:10 p,m, Santa will arrive at 7:30 p.m. to light the tree.
After the event all are welcomed at St. Andrew’s Hall for free photos with Santa. Refreshments will be provided by the Walden Community Counsel and the Walden Woman’s Club. Distance guidelines will be followed. Everyone is required to wear a mask.

The Village of Walden will hold their annual Home Decorating Contest sponsored by the Community Council. To join in, you must reside in Walden. Pick up and drop off an entry form at the Josephine-Louise Public Library by December 16. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Judging will be based on creativity, originality and artistic endeavors!

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden will hold their next indoor yard sale on Saturday, December 5, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Face masks are required. Great place to shop for the holidays. Keep in mind all proceeds benefit the care of the animals at the shelter.

We have a new supply of mobile kits of New York State’s Symbols. We did not rea;oz this would be so popular! Come pick up a “Grab n’ Go Kit” to make this fun mobile and learn about the symbols of New York State. All materials needed and simple directions will be included.
We still have a few packets left for our “Grab N’ Go” Art packets for the Teens. All art supplies are included. Just give us a call at 778-7621, and we will have them ready for pick up.
