County Executive Ryan did confirm that the individual is a 76 year old male from the Town of Plattekill who passed away at Vassar Brothers hospital due to complications from COVID-19 on Sunday, March 29.

The Orange County Health Department on Thursday reported the second death in Orange County as a result of COVID-19.
The deceased was an Orange County resident over the age of 70 with multiple pre-existing medical conditions. As of Thursday, Orange County now has 756 positive COVID-19 cases.

Schools in Orange and Ulster Counties will be closed for the next two weeks, it was announced Friday afternoon.
Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan, announced the decision at a briefing on Friday afternoon.
“Based on what we currently know about the spread of COVID-19, we believe that acting decisively now will significantly reduce the impact on our community and help protect our most vulnerable neighbors,” he said.
