Tuesday Trek: Rainbow Falls Loop Hike at Minnewaska

Minnewaska State Park Preserve

Posted
Join Laura Conner, Environmental Educator, and Sarah LaLumiere, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps member, for this approximately eight-mile-long hike on a combination of wooded hiking trails and easy-walking carriage roads. Beginning on the Mossy Glen Footpath, which follows along a quietly brooding stream, we'll hike along the Blueberry Run Footpath through the site of the 2008 forest fire and up to Jenny Lane Footpath. Then, we'll walk this route to reconnect with Lower Awosting Carriage Road and finally Rainbow Falls Footpath. This scenic route climbs up and over rock slabs with astounding panoramic views, culminating directly beneath Rainbow Falls. This hike does include two stream crossings and some rocky, narrow sections of trail that may be challenging for some. Due to COVID protocols, the total number of participants for this program is limited to twelve individuals. All participants must wear face coverings or keep a minimum six foot distance away from others who are not part of your immediate household. Meet at the Awosting Parking Lot Information Kiosk. Pre-registration is required by calling Minnewaska at 845-255-0752.
