The town board is working to create a Facebook page for the Town of Montgomery.

The site will be used mainly to inform residents of events happening in the town. Livestreams of the town board, planning board and industrial development agency will also be posted to the page.

“We just want to maximize our social media presence and connect with the town,” said Montgomery Town Supervisor Brian Maher.

Once the page is published, Maher, Superintendent of Highways Shaun Meres and Town Clerk Tara Stickles will contribute to the page. Maher hopes to have the site up and running by the end of this week. He believes that the page will facilitate better communication in the Town of Montgomery.

“It’s one more layer representing a transparent style of government,” he said. “We want to create more activity and more interaction between residents and the town’s government.”
