Highland bowlers beaten by Crusaders

The Highland Huskies lost both the boys’ and girls’ non-league bowling matches to the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders on Jan. 30 at Spins Bowl in Poughkeepsie.
Chris Gagliardi rolled a 216 high game and a 611 series, leading the Crusader boys to a 4-1 win. He also finished with a 214 for a 611 series. The Crusaders won the first and third games, and won the total pin count, 1,893-1,776.

Andrew Lamark led the Huskies with a 193 high game and a three-game series of 496. He finished the day with a 169. The Huskies won the second game, 599-567.

With only three bowlers, the Huskies lost the girls’ match, 5-0.

Monroe-Woodbury’s Mia Flores had a high series of 355 and Nakeisha Rivers had a 150 high game and a 350 series.

Miranda Farbaniec and Aalyiah Ghafoor each led the Huskies with a 133 high game. Farbaniec scored a 365 series and Ghafoor finished with a 317.

Monroe-Woodbury won the total pin count, 1,710-978.

Highland girls top Pine Plains

Deanna Barry scored 23 points as the Highland Huskies defeated Pine Plains, 67-44, in Thursday’s Mid Hudson Athletic League girls’ basketball game at Highland High School.

Grace Koehler added 21 points for the Huskies (9-4).

Michelle Blackburn scored 18 points for Pine Plains (8-5) and Neveah Rennie added 14.
