Perez leads Viking boys past Burke
Armando Perez scored a team-high 17 points, leading the Valley Central Vikings to a 50-42 win over the John S. Burke Catholic Eagles in a non-league boys’ basketball game at Valley Central High School in Montgomery.

Jason Murphy added 13 points for the Vikings (6-6), who snapped a five-game losing streak. They lost, 62-48, to the Washingtonville Wizards on Jan. 10, and, 58-53, to the Warwick Wildcats on Wednesday.

Jack O’Boyle led the Eagles (8-1) with a game-high 25 points. Ryan Shust added 10 points.

Mesuch leads Wallkill past Red Hook
Zoe Mesuch set a new scoring record at Wallkill High School for both boys’ and girls’ basketball in the Panthers’ 62-44 win over Red Hook in a Mid Hudson Athletic League girls’ basketball game on Friday at Red Hook High School.

Mesuch finished with a game-high 25 points, breaking the Wallkill scoring record set by Mat Shea in 2022.

Emily Kent led the Raiders with 20 points.

The Panthers (6-3, 3-1 MHAL) have won three straight since the start of January.

Marlboro girls topple FDR

Gabby Murphy scored 30 points and deflected seven shots, leading the Marlboro Dukes to a 61-49 win over the FDR Presidents on Friday in a Mid Hudson Athletic League girls’ basketball game at Marlboro High School.

Hannah Polumbo had a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Dukes (7-1, 3-1 MHAL).

The Dukes opened the week with a 65-42 win over the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders and finished the week with a 57-47 loss to the Kingston Tigers.

Lily Sullivan led with 15 points. Murphy added 14 points, and Nalyah Campbell and Polumbo scored 10 each.
