Morning Snowshoe Outing for Families at Minnewaska

Posted

Break out your warm clothing and snowshoes and join a park educator, for a one-mile long snowshoe walk in the Peter’s Kill Area of Minnewaska. We’ll walk along the Red Loop Footpath, which meanders through a grassy area and a wetland before entering a mixed deciduous forest, where it descends to the picturesque Peter’s Kill stream. Along the way, we’ll look for signs of wildlife on the trail including tracks, browse and scat. This outing does include one steep hill that some people may find challenging to climb. A limited number of snowshoes are available for participants to borrow for this program from the education department, located at the Peter’s Kill Area. Otherwise, snowshoes may be rented from the Park Preserve Office, located at the Peter’s Kill Area, for $5 per person for this program. Early arrival is suggested if you would like to borrow snowshoes. If there is insufficient snow cover, this program will be offered as a hike. Meet in the Peter’s Kill Area. Pre-registration is required by calling Minnewaska at 845-255- 0752.
