Richard “Richie” Ralph Goldsmith entered into rest on May 3, 2024 surrounded by family at home in Bloomingburg, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 75. Richard was born on September 17, 1948 to Ralph and Elizabeth Goldsmith in Middletown. He was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves until 1975. Richard was a talented builder and spent over 30 years building homes as an owner of GM Construction with his longtime friend, Michael Manning. Richard met the love of his life, Julie when they were just teenagers. They married on April 6, 1974 and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Richard built their home in Bloomingburg, where they raised their three children Christopher, James, and Lauren. Richard also loved spending time at their family’s vacation home on Great Sacandaga Lake. He took pride in completely rebuilding the vacation home in 1992 and spent a great deal of time there each year. Richard also enjoyed snowmobiling over the years and loved gardening. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Julie, his son Christopher and Fiancé, Dana Saintmire, his son, James and his wife Stacy, their daughter Lauren Van Voorhis and Husband, Craig, five grandchildren whom he adored, Bode, Dominic, Chase, Carl, and Darrell. He is also survived by his siblings Joan Goad, Ronald Goldsmith, Linda Schoonmaker in addition to several nieces and nephews. 

Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Goldsmith.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m .at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, followed by a service at 12 pm at the funeral home and burial at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery.
