The Wallkill Panthers advanced to the semifinals of the Section 9 Division 1 Duals wrestling tournament on Wednesday with a 39-26 win over No. 4 Monroe-Woodbury on Wednesday at Minisink Valley High School.

The Panthers and the Valley Central Vikings competed at Minisink Valley on Wednesday after the previous day’s opening round was postponed from Wallkill High School due to inclement weather.

Daniel Depew (190), Julian Aviles (285), Devin Strother (124), and Viktor Banda (131) picked up pinfall victories for the Panthers, who opened the tournament with a 73-0 win over unseeded Kingston in the first round.

The Crusaders eliminated the unseeded Valley Central Vikings, 45-28, in the first round.

Ryan Calfe (190), Sebastian Pickett (116) and Luke Satriano scored pinfall victories for the Vikings.

The Pine Bush Bushmen competed at Newburgh Free Academy and were eliminated in the first round by a 48-21 loss to the No. 6 Warwick Wildcats.

Ethan Conrow (170), Gregory Florin (285), and Richard Urena (132) picked up pinfall victories for the Bushmen.

The No. 4 Panthers were scheduled to face the top-seeded Minisink Valley Warriors on Tuesday in the semifinals at Minisink Valley High School.
