The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks won nine events in their 103-50 Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association boys’ swimming and diving meet on Friday at Newburgh Free Academy.

Newburgh swimmers capture nine events at meet

The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks won nine events in their 103-50 Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association boys’ swimming and diving meet on Friday at Newburgh Free Academy.

Jax Pagano won the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 2:24.04 and finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Sebi Burgarelli, Jackson Cooper, Peyton Tuttle and Vinny Velasquez opened the meet with a victory in 1:52.51.

Conor Mummery won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.04, and Liam Baxter took fourth with a season-best time of 2:22.75.

Jax Pagano won the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best 2:24.04, while Ryder Tuttle posted a personal best of 2:49.22. Daniel Martin swam exhibition and finished with a personal best time of 2:49.84.

Jack Mummery posted a personal best time of 22.89 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

Sebi Burgarelli and Jackson Vegliando were third and fourth, with personal best times of 25.05 and 25.47 respectively.

Akhiir McNeil won the diving event with a six-dive score of 150.20.

Angelo Reade won the 100-yard butterfly with a personal best time of 58.25 seconds, while Lukas Townsend won the 100-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 57.55 seconds. Jacob Lazarski posted a personal best with a time of 1:05.14 and finished third.

Peyton Tuttle’s winning time of 5:05.81 was a season best, while Lima Baxter also placed second and posted a season best time of 6:18.28. Ryder Tuttle finished third with a season-best 6:24.37.

Newburgh’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Pagano, Miles Davis, Conor Mummery and Aidan Domanico picked up a win with a time of 1:40.16.

The Goldbacks swam exhibition for the final three events. However, Jackson Cooper posted a season-best in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.83 while Townsend placed a personal best in 1:08.53.

Velasquez and Reade each placed personal bests in the 100-yard breaststroke with respective times of 1:11.35 and 1:12.35.
