The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks kept their lead in Division 1 when they posted a 5-0 win over the Middletown Middies in a girl’s bowling match on Thursday at Pat Tarsio Lanes in Newburgh.
The Goldbacks ran their record to 5-0 in the league, while Middletown dropped to 1-3.
The Goldbacks only loss so far was a non-league loss to the Kingston Tigers in December.
Katie Bell led the Goldbacks with a 225 high game and a 555 series and Gianna Alisandrella had a 173 high game and a 449 series. The Goldbacks won the pin count, 2,091-1,439.
The boys’ team didn’t have as much success, as they were edged by nine pins in a 3-2 loss to the Middies.
The Goldbacks lost the pin count, 2,909-2,900.
Gage Szymanowicz rolled a 254 high game and a 667 series with Andre Alexander right behind him with a 246 high game and a 665 series. Alexander also rolled a 225 in his third game. Jordan Dewitt rolled a 213 high game and a 574 series. Stephen Barnes had a 205 high and a 550 series.
