New Windsor residents join in water suit

At least 60 people have filed a lawsuit against the town of New Windsor to secure damages for personal injury property damages and pain and suffering from the effects of drinking town of New Windsor water that is contaminated with the same kind of chemicals polluting Newburgh’s Washington Lake – PFOs, the perfluronated compounds “PFOAs” fouling Newburgh’s drinking water reservoir.

The New Windsor PFOAs are coming from a different water source – drinking water that was tested and cleared for public consumption from a new mult-million-dollar heavily bonded treatment plant on New Windsor’s Quassaic Creek.

Nevertheless, the PFOs have shut down New Windsor’s state of the art multimillion dollar water treatment plant and the town has turned to other town well sources already used so far without pollution.

Meanwhile, New Windsor now faces multiple damage lawsuits on behalf of more than 60 people in New Windsor seeking damages from drinking the New Windsor water from the Butterhill treatment plant.

“The claims arose on or about May 1, 2019 when the town of New Windsor disclosed that it’s the Butter Hill well, the primary public water source for its citizens and its aquifer where it draws its water had become contaminated with perfluorinated compounds,” says the lawsuit the New York City based Napoli Skolnik law firm in New York City filed on behalf of multiple users of the New Windsor water source.

“On or about May 1 the town disclosed that it’s Butterhill wells, the primary public water source for its citizenry had become contaminated,” says the lawsuit received by the town July 1.

The lawsuit does not yet list any damages amount being sought on behalf of the litigants who are seeking “damages for personal injuries, pain and suffering, medical expenses, medical monitoring and related property damages.”
