New Windsor man charged in shooting

A New Windsor man was taken into custody Thursday on a charge of firearms possession and in connection with a shooting that took place last weekend in the City of Newburgh.

On Thursday, October 10th 2019, at approximately 8:15 p.m., members of the City of Newburgh Police Department arrested Town of New Windsor resident Ryan Discua, age 23, in the area of 230 Broadway. Discua was arrested while in possession of a Hi-Point 9mm semiautomatic handgun. After his arrest investigators served a search warrant on a residence on Columbus Street in the Town of New Windsor.

As a result of the investigation into Discua, he has been charged with the shooting of Romeo Herring on October 9th which occurred in the area of 129 William Street.

Mr. Discua was further charged with his involvement in a shooting that occurred shortly after 2. p.m. on Sunday, October 6th, in the area of First Street and Carpenter Ave.

In total Mr. Discua was charged with one count of Assault in the 1st degree, three  counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, and two  counts of Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree. Discua is being held pending arraignment in the City of Newburgh court on Friday, October 11th.
