Kevin Joseph Kiernan, formerly of Montgomery, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021 at home in Guyton, Georgia. He was 65.

He was the son of the late John Martin Kiernan Sr. and Christine Barbara Kiernan, he was born February 14, 1955 in Middletown, NY.

Kevin was a man larger than life. He loved his family and friends, and always put others ahead of himself. He leaves behind a void impossible to fill. He had the ability to light up a room with laughter wherever he went. He had an inquisitive mind, always dreaming up ideas, and designs for his brother’s farm. This came natural to him as in life he was a man of many trades. He was a business owner, carpenter and driver for the local union, a horseman, a cook, and a farmer. Kevin loved to take part in community gatherings and events whether it be family pig roasts at the farm, grilling sausage and peppers, burgers and dogs at General Montgomery Day and the many festivals of the Hudson Valley, and taking part in Woodstock and Roy Howard reunion concerts.

Growing up, Kevin was a true Weaver Street boy. He loved fishing, camping, trapping and hunting. He was an all-around athlete playing little league for the Montgomery Braves, pitching his team to many victories. He also excelled at basketball and soccer, but most notably as a golfer on the Valley Central varsity golf team (VC graduate class of 1974) and then as an adult winning many local tournaments. When Kevin wasn’t on the fairway or ballfield, he could be found training and racing his horses with his brothers or digging up earthworms and catching crayfish to take his kids, nieces and nephews fishing. He loved westerns, especially those starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, and was a southern country boy at heart. Kevin also was a man who came to a strong faith in God, was an unwavering patriot who loved this country and the freedoms and liberties inherent in its founding.

Survivors include his daughter, Danielle Kiernan of Middletown; son, Stephan Kiernan (Kate) and grandchildren Timmy and Haddie Kiernan of Clayton, NC; brother, John Martin Kiernan, Jr. “Marty” (Thelma) of Gardiner; nieces Colleen Gleason (Aaron) of Lagrangeville and Keri Giuliano (John) of Walden; nephews Patrick Kiernan of Montgomery, Brian Kiernan of Montgomery, Shane Kiernan (Lucy) of Arlington, VA and Ryan Kiernan (Johanna) of Gardiner; cousins Michael Kiernan of Walden and Edward Kiernan of Walden, his dearest friends, Skip and Linda Wisniewski of Guyton, GA

and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Kevin was predeceased by his brother, Robert Kiernan.

It is requested that donations be made to the Walden Humane Society, PO Box 135, Walden, NY 12586
