Ellen Shanley Kurowski, 67, of West Hartford, loving wife and best friend of John P. Kurowski passed away peacefully at home on January 1st after a two year battle with cancer.
Raised in Newburgh NY, Ellen moved to CT to attend college, where she was a 1975 graduate of Trinity. She went on to earn both a Juris Doctorate from UCONN Law School and a MS in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1981. She was employed with the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health for over 37 years until retiring in 2015 as a Senior Staff Attorney.
Ellen had many passions, none more so than collecting and researching antiques and items of interest. She loved the outdoors, walking and hiking at every opportunity. She was a caring, brave and passionate woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met.
In addition to her husband John, Ellen leaves her cherished daughter Jamie A. Kurowski of West Hartford and her sister Karen Hall of Lewisburg, PA.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road in South Windsor on January 14th from 5-7 pm. Burial will be private.
