AnnMarie Onwuka of Newburgh was among the 19 University of Scranton students inducted into Beta Beta Beta, the national honor society for biology. For induction into the honor society, students must have completed at least three biology courses, maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average in biology, and be in good academic standing at the University. The honor society encourages undergraduate biological research through presentations at conventions, publication in the journal BIOS, and research/travel grants. The University’s chapter of the honor society was established in 1994.

Onwuka is a sophomore biology major at the Jesuit university.

More than 200 SUNY Delhi students completed certificates, associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in December 2019.

Maggie Knight of New Windsor earned a master’s in Nursing Education

Chelsey Miller of Newburgh earned an associate in Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies.

The SUNY Delhi Athletics Department recently recognized 39 student-athletes who made the grade to become Broncos Scholar Athletes. SUNY Delhi Director of Athletics Bob Backus introduced the distinguished student-athletes at halftime of the women’s basketball team’s home game versus Norwich on Monday, Feb. 17. Local students included Joshua Lopez of Newburgh, a member of the Swimming & Diving team is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice Studies.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Brandon Rein of Newburgh, a member of the class of 2023 majoring in biochemistry, was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2019 semester.

Paige Reiss, of Newburgh, graduated from The University of Tampa on May 9. Reiss graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations.

David Gagnidze, of Newburgh was named the recipient of The Paul S. Langa Prize Scholarship at Hamilton College’s annual Class & Charter Day. The virtual ceremony was held on May 11. The Paul S. Langa Prize Scholarship is awarded to a Hamilton student who has demonstrated academic excellence along with outstanding determination, leadership, and commitment in extracurricular activities. Gagnidze, a senior majoring in anthropology, is a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy.

Christopher Austin Regan of New Windsor, majoring in mechanical engineering, was named a Presidential Scholar for the fall 2019 semester at Clarkson University.

Grace Ciabattoni of Newburgh, was named to the Dean’s List at Lehigh University in the Fall 2019 semester.
