Upcoming session of Tea, Talks and Workshops at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library.
On Friday, February 21, join Ardis Ketterer, local artist and educator, for a Zentangles drawing workshop, 3:30 – 5 p.m. Embellish black-and-white line drawings with repetitive and soothing designs to create striking graphics.
The process is meditative, and the result, eye-catching. Register by calling the library (845) 795-2200.


Movies That Matter: “The Biggest Little Farm” at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library.
A documentarian and his wife (John and Molly Chester) develop a sustainable farm on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles. The film follows their successes and failures over the years, as the barren land they purchased begins to thrive and transform.
Doors open 10 minutes before the film, which starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28. Light refreshments and discussion follow for approximately an hour.
Free and open to the public. (PG, 92 minutes, 2018.)

Medicare Counseling Appointments At The Marlboro Library
On Friday, February 21, starting at 10 a.m. a representative from the Ulster County Office for the Aging will be at the Marlboro Library to help those interested sign up for Medicare and choose a plan that best fits their lifestyles. Receive personalized counseling and help understanding the different plans available. By appointment only!
Please call the Office for the Aging at (845) 340-3456 to make appointment. When booking your appointment, please specify that you would like to meet with Peggy at the Marlboro Free Library.


50’s Era Birthday Party fundraiser!
Families! Throw on your poodle skirt, slick back your hair and dust off your Davy Crockett hat for a visit to another era!
On Saturday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m., celebrate the old-fashioned way at the Friends of the MFL’s 50’s Era Birthday Party fundraiser! Costumes from the 1950’s are encouraged, but not required. Kids can play classic party games, “cut a rug” while listening to cool tunes and enjoy some birthday cake and snacks! Registration for this party is required, and spaces are limited, so sign up soon!
Tickets are $10 per family (2 adults and all children from one household), and are available for sale at the circulation desk until February 7.

Pre-Oscar Party at Marlboro Free Library
Need a recap of all the nominees? Come get fully prepped at our pre-Oscar party! On Sunday, February 9 at 1 p.m. walk the red carpet (designer garb optional!), have your photo taken, talk movies, and watch the trailers for nominated films. Cast your votes for the Oscar winners, the one with the most correct guesses will receive a gift card for a local movie theater!
Light Oscar-themed snacks will be served.
Adults, RSVP online at marlborolibrary.org, walk-ins welcome.
Children allowed only with parental guidance and discretion due to movie trailer content.

Marlboro School District Acknowledgements & Events
The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education will be holding a workshop meeting on Thursday, February 6, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Town of Marlborough Community Meeting Room, located at 21 Milton Turnpike. All are welcome to attend.
Democracy in action! Youth and Government students from Marlboro Middle School took Albany by storm on January 28, touring the capitol and meeting with New York State Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson and Senator James Skoufis. A unique experience for a tremendous group of students!
Students in Kassia Messina’s Earth Science class at Marlboro Middle School compared the Earth to hard boiled eggs during a recent hands-on lab exercise. Students observed and recorded visual similarities between the interior and exterior of the eggs and the Earth. What an egg-cellent way to learn about our planet!


Easy Classic Chilli

Ingredients
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 medium yellow onion -diced
• 1 pound 90% lean ground beef
• 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
• 2 tablespoons ground cumin
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 1 tablespoon garlic powder
• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper* -optional
• 1 1/2 cups beef broth
• 1 (15 oz.) can petite diced tomatoes
• 1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
• 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Instructions
1. Add the olive oil to a large soup pot and place it over medium-high heat for two minutes. Add the onion. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Add the ground beef to the pot. Break it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for 6-7 minutes, until the beef is browned, stirring occasionally.
3. Add the chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and optional cayenne. Stir until well combined.
4. Add the broth, diced tomatoes (with their juice), drained beans, and tomato sauce. Stir well.
5. Bring the liquid to a low boil. Then, reduce the heat (low to medium-low) to gently simmer the chili, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Remove the pot from the heat. Let the chili rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Top with Cheddar or Sour Cream Enjoy!
