The SUNY Orange Foundation announces its upcoming Women in STEM Alumni Leadership Awards, to be held at the Highpoint in Newburgh, located at 245 Liberty Street, on Thursday, May 9 at 6 p.m.

Highpoint is a renovated church (formerly the United Methodist Church) that is currently being managed by LYNC, an organization that provides a co-working space for women of color, retail space, and a health center. The venue also serves as the home of Newburgh YouthBuild, a pre-apprenticeship program that prepares local youth, primarily young women ages 16-24 for careers in carpentry, construction trades, culinary arts and nursing.

The SUNY Orange Foundation’s Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Leadership Awards event celebrates the remarkable achievements of SUNY Orange alumni, highlighting their invaluable contributions to their respective fields.

This year’s distinguished honorees include: Glynis Cowart, chief information officer, Montefiore St. Luke’s Medical Center; Jessica Mariana,: principal, HVEA Engineers; Stacey Moegenburg, associate vice president, SUNY Orange; and Nicole Sewell, chief nursing officer, Garnet Health Medical Center.

These exceptional women exemplify leadership and innovation in their respective STEM fields, serving as role models and advocates for future generations.

This event supports STEM Scholarships for SUNY Orange students, aiming to change lives and shape the leaders of tomorrow. Sponsorships and journal ads are available to support this worthy cause at sunyorangefoundation.org/registration-form. Tickets for the event are available for $160 per person.

The Women in STEM Leadership Awards will feature a cocktail hour with heavy hors d’oeuvres, followed by an awards presentation ceremony. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with esteemed guests and industry leaders while celebrating the achievements of the honorees.

The SUNY Orange Foundation remains committed to its mission of supporting Orange County Community College and fostering excellence in education, innovation, and leadership.
