Student Artists from Marlboro High School earn regional recognition

Several young artists from Marlboro High School (MHS) earned Gold and Silver awards and Honorable Mentions in this year’s Regional Scholastic Art Awards competition.

The students who won Gold and Silver Keys are considered among the top 10 to 15 percent in the Hudson Valley region. An exhibition featuring their work will be on display throughout the month of February at the SUNY New Paltz Fine Arts Rotunda. Gold Key winners will go on to be judged at the national level and if chosen, will be honored at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in June.
MHS art teachers Amy Tremblay and Rachel Elder said they are proud of their students and excited for the opportunity for the Gold Key winners to be judged at the national level.

“These talented students have worked hard and are very deserving of this honor,” Tremblay said. “We are very proud.”

The Scholastic Awards are the nation’s longest running recognition program for creative teenagers and the largest source of scholarships for talented young artists and writers. Artistic submissions are judged by luminaries in the visual arts and panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
