Standing Up To Bullies

In the past few weeks my character has been assaulted and I have been attacked by the Republican Committee for asking questions. They have written in the local newspaper and posted on social media negative things about me and my family. This type of behavior is embarrassing to everyone in the Town of Lloyd. When politicians can’t defend their record they resort to personal attacks. Why are they not sticking to the facts? Because they don’t want the truth to come out about their backroom politics.

At a recent board meeting when I questioned the supervisor why he changed the hiring practices, he pointed his finger at me and started cursing. The deputy supervisor then joined the attack, screaming at the top of his lungs while banging his fist on the table. I don’t understand why they have to behave this way every time I just ask a simple question. I believe the reason they get so angry is because they can’t defend their actions and don’t want me or you to know what’s really going on behind closed doors.

Take for example the decision to close Tilson Avenue, Toc Drive and Vineyard Avenue. This decision was made solely by the supervisor. His resolution to close the road was sprung on us at the last minute. There was little or no discussion with the entire board or with the engineers, contractors or the residents with the exception of one meeting at the firehouse. If we would have spent more time workshopping this issue and having collaborative discussions, we could have come up with a better idea than just closing off the entire south side of town and inconveniencing hundreds of residents for a prolonged period of time. This type of mistake, Mr. Supervisor, is exactly why I am asking questions.

You wouldn’t tolerate such behavior from your children. You should not tolerate such behavior from your elected officials.

We, in the Town of Lloyd, deserve civil behavior from our elected officials. We deserve a transparent government. We deserve officials who will discuss Town policy by explaining the merits of a proposal and their position – not by attacking personally those who disagree with them or merely have questions.

Please stand with me against these bullies and vote Democratic this November.
