Marlboro’s Sydney Sladicka was eliminated from the Section 9 girls’ tennis championships in the quarterfinals when she was beaten, 6-2, 6-2, by Goshen’s Norah Staunton on October 17 at MatchPoint Tennis Center in Goshen.
She opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Spackenkill’s Katie Park.
Highland’s doubles team of Ella Fuller and Ari Wallen reached the quarterfinals, where they were shut out by Washingtonville’s Ella Dueck and Ally Davis. They opened the tournament with a 7-6 (1), 7-5 win over Valley Central’s Autumn Strobach and Megan Mann.
Highland’s Lena Tran was eliminated in the first round by a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Warwick’s Alexandra Krasinska. Emma Hanlon and Alyson Halbert were eliminated in the first round by a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Washingtonville’s Leah Chan and Olivia Monaco. Grace Koehler and Jessica Rendon were eliminated in the first round by Cornwall’s Avery Greher and Catie Cunningham.
Goshen’s Norah Staunton won the singles championship and Monroe-Woodbury’s Amaya Grant and Brooke Reese won the doubles championship.
