Middle School swim program is a success

Marlboro Middle School’s new swimming program is going—well—swimmingly! Students in Grades 6-8 have been boarding a bus to the Marlboro High School pool each week to take part in swimming lessons and aquatic activities during their Physical Education classes.

The curriculum, which was introduced at the Middle School this year, focuses on developing and enhancing basic stroke techniques, such as the front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke, as well as teaching important safety precautions for swimming in both pools and open water. To help the students practice and continue to gain confidence in the water, they also compete in aquatic games that get them moving and having fun.

Marlboro held a District-wide Choral Day on April 9, similar to the Band Day which took place in February. Chorus members from Marlboro Elementary School, Marlboro Middle School, and Marlboro High School (MHS) came together in the MHS auditorium to rehearse songs and receive guidance from Choral Directors Susan Johnston, Stephanie Hu-Corbett, and Katie Budryk.

After rehearsals, the group united on stage for one final, culminating performance. It was a wonderful day of singing, collaboration, and fun!

The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education will be holding a meeting on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Town of Marlborough Court Room, which is located at 21 Milton Turnpike. There will be a private executive session held prior to the meeting at 6 PM.

Save the dates! Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place throughout the District on Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30.

Warmer weather is on the way! Our camp directors have been working hard on this year’s summer camp plans.

Registration starts: May 23 - 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Town hall and June 8 - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Town Hall. Can’t make those days? No problem, you can also register at the Supervisors Office any day after May 23. See you soon! Registration paperwork will be available on the town’s website in May. Check back for updates.
