Marie Eugenia (Jane) Keahon Schunk of Highland born on September 7, 1935 in Nyack NY passed at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston on January 25, 2021.

Jane, to all who knew her, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Jane lived a very full, active, and community minded life. Jane was a graduate of Rosemont College with a BS in Social Work. After moving to New Paltz in 1967 she worked in real estate ultimately becoming an owner broker and partner of Scott Associates and of her own firms including Paltz Real Estate. Jane was the named Realtor of the Year in 2005. Beyond operating her own businesses she also instructed for the Ulster County Board of Realtors aiding new agents and those seeking to advance their careers. Jane’s community services included serving on the Board of New Paltz Central School District for two terms, as a member and supporter of the Chamber of Commerce, as the President of the New Paltz Study Club, a member of Seniors Staying In Place, over 30 year member of Rotary International including as the co-director of the District International Youth Exchange Program, and as a Member of the Board of Directors of St. Cabrini Home and School in West Park NY.

Jane loved her family, friends, and life, celebrating any and all occasions. Jane was a spectacular hostess who loved to entertain, she constantly brought old friends and new acquaintances together kindling friendships that might have not been but for her invites. Evenings with the “Gourmet Club” were cherished by Jane and fondly remembered by many. Although Jane was afraid of flying she loved to travel and experience different customs, traditions and locales around the world. She had the ability to connect with people across cultures and had a diverse group of friends both near and far. Her compassion, generosity, and outgoing nature made her a social magnet. Jane will be missed by all who knew her.

Jane was preceded by her parents Hugh A. and Marion Z. Keahon, her brother Kevin J. Keahon and her first husband Anthony P. Palcic, and her nephew Shawn M. Keahon. Jane is survived by her husband Philip W. Schunk, her brother Hugh G. Keahon, his wife Jean, her son Patric M. Palcic, his wife Kathleen, their children M. Brigid Palcic, Emily C. (Palcic) Weeden, her husband Jay Weeden, Abigael M. Palcic, her fiancé John Newkirk, Patrick X. Palcic, her son Christopher K. Palcic, her son Hugh A. Palcic, his wife Lisa, their children Hannah Palcic, her fiancé Slater Herman, and Reilly Palcic, her great granddaughter Everleigh Weeden, her stepchildren Steven W. Schunk, his spouse Douglas Rackow, Catherine M. (Schunk) Platek, her husband Michael, their children Mark E., Emma C., and Andrew T, Philip W. Schunk Jr., his wife Tracy, and their children Matthew K. and Hannah, Peter Schunk and his wife Janice, her nephew Michael P. Keahon, his wife Jennifer, their children Kaitlin and Ryan, as well as numerous first and second cousins.

A memorial celebration will be held on or about Jane’s birthday September 7, 2021 details will be provided once we are closer to the date. Interment at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Nanuet NY will follow the memorial.
