Little Brays of Sunshine return to Milton

Meet and greet miniature therapy donkeys on Saturday, September 21, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library. These adorable Little Brays of Sunshine are the ambassadors of the non-profit Donkey Park.
Inside: Enjoy books, activities and snacks celebrating our donkey visitors.
Outside: Get to know the Little Brays in person (and donkey)! Sign up to attend by calling (795-2200) or visiting the library.
Please note that in case of inclement weather, the event may be cancelled.


Music and Movement at Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library Scheduled for New Day and Times
Pre-schoolers will be happy to learn that their favorite, Miss Gina, is returning to the library in Milton. Gina Samardge, who is an Orff Schulwerk teaching artist, starts children on their path to early literacy through Music and Movement.
The nine Wednesday classes begin on September 25. The library offers classes for two age groups (flexible) on a new day, Wednesday: 10 to 10:45 a.m., Ages 1-1/2 to 3 years with adult; 11 to 11:45 a.m., Ages 3 to 5 years with adult.
Open and free to the public. Registration is required, and space is limited. Call 795-2200 to sign up.


Microsoft Excel, art III
By popular demand, on Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m., John Cary will be holding another Microsoft Excel class at the Marlboro Library! Learn how to construct pivot tables, perform “if statements,” concatenations, and more. Moderate computer skills are required for this class. Attendees are asked to bring their own laptops.
Please call the library at 236-7272, if you need to reserve a library laptop, as a limited number are available on a first come, first served basis. Registration is required, as a limited number of spaces are available. Register online at marlborolibrary.org.


Baby Play Group

Drop in to chat with other new parents/caregivers while babies play! No registration required.
0-18 months with parents/caregivers.
The group meets Thursdays in September, 10-11 a.m.


Touch-a-Truck & Fire Safety Event with Marlboro Hose Co. #1

Meet local Marlboro firefighters and learn about fire safety on Saturday, September 28, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Attendees will get a chance to get up close to a real fire truck!
For families of all ages. Adults must be accompanied by a child.
Registration is not required, but is preferred so that you can be contacted in the case of a last-minute cancellation. This program is weather permitting.

Covered Bridges of Ulster
On Sunday, September 22, at 2 p.m., the Marlborough Historical Society will welcome Daniel Snavely to the Milton Train Station, where he will give a presentation on his research on the seven covered bridges that are located within the lower Catskill Mountains.
Dan was born in Illinois, lived in Colorado for 10 years, studied in Chicago, and went on to enjoy a long career working for IBM in Dutchess County. Since his retirement in 2018, Dan has devoted his time to tutoring first and second graders in reading, volunteering for the Time and the Valleys Museum in Grahamsville, working on the implementation of an Augmented Reality Sandbox, and continuing to photograph and study the covered bridges of Ulster and Sullivan Counties.
Admission to this event is free and all are welcome.

The historic Milton Train Station was built in 1883 and is located at 41 Dock Road, Milton, next to the Milton Landing Park on the Hudson River. The train station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.


Alzheimer’s Detection and Prevention Talks at Milton Library
Joan Carl, of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, offers two presentations that draw on the latest research on treating and preventing memory loss. Both presentations are part of the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library’s “Tea, Talks & Workshops” series. Come for the information; stay for the conversation. Tea/coffee and goodies served.
