Have you ever wanted to attend an auction of household goods, real estate, cars or surplus equipment? Wondering how to participate as a buyer or possibly a seller? What is that Auctioneer saying?
On Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. learn from New York State Bid Calling Champion Auctioneer Frank Pietrzak in an action-packed evening of sound and fun at the Marlboro Free Library! You will learn about the Auctioneer’s “chant,” Buyer’s Premium and ‘absolute v. reserve’ style events. You will leave being able to call bids yourself using the rhymes and counting drills taught at Missouri Auction School. Bring your questions and willingness to participate.
Frank Pietrzak is an Auctioneer and graduate of the Missouri Auction School, with over twenty years’ experience selling real estate, personal property and vehicles throughout the tristate region.

Sara Hull Hallock Free Library
The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library’s after-school creativity classes begin for students the last week in February.
There are still spaces available for youngsters in elementary school in our Lego Club. Children have fun with friends free-building and designing Lego sculptures to display in the library. The club meets on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m., staring February 24.

3rd annual Pi Day baking contest
Calling all pie makers! The Marlboro Library will be celebrating “Pi Day, or “π Day” (March 14) with our third annual pie making contest! Sign up to enter the contest in person at the library, then drop off your pie by 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
All contestants must turn in a completed entry form, available at the circulation desk and at marlborolibrary.org.
Everyone is welcome to come to the library at 2 p.m. to see the live judging of pie entries by three mystery judges. Contestants, tell your friends and bring your family to cheer you on and see who the winners are, then stay for a picnic style celebration and pie tasting, open to the public. The snow date will be the same time, Sunday, March 15. Ready, set, bake!

Opioid Crisis Informational Session at the Marlboro Library
In 2018, Ulster County had the most opioid related deaths per capita in New York State. With over one death per week attributed to opioids, Ulster County has deeply felt the effects of this nationwide crisis.
Carol Sutcliffe, from Ulster County’s Family Services of New York, will be at the Marlboro Library on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. to discuss the opioid crisis that has widely affected Ulster County. During her presentation, Sutcliffe will discuss overdose statistics, the steps Ulster County is taking to address the crisis, addiction and the treatments available, and the free services available for individuals and families.

Chill Cook-Off Veterans Fund Raiser!
American Legion Post 124 hosts its Annual Chill Cook-Off for Veterans on Saturday March 14, from 12 - 3 p.m. at the Marlboro American Legion Post 124, 50 Western Avenue, Marlboro.
All Entries Welcome! Enter by March 1. Admission of $10 a person lets you taste them all! Under 12 are $5

Marlboro School District Acknowledgments & Events
Kudos to members of the Marlboro High School Science Olympiad team for their stellar performance at the Mid-Hudson Regional Science Olympiad on February 8.
The team medaled in the Designer Genes competition. Great job!

Members of the Marlboro High School Boys and Girls Track & Field teams celebrated several standout performances during the 2020 Ocean Breeze Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Park & Athletic Complex in Staten Island this past weekend.
Freddie Callo finished 4th in the Varsity Weight Throw, Trace Napoli finished 4th in the Sophomore Shot Put, and Doug Benfer finished 1st in the Sophomore Shot Put. Meanwhile, Lily Wiles competed in the Pentathlon for the first time, Leah Carvajal finished 4th in the Weight Throw, and the Girls 4x200 Relay team finished 15th overall.
