Residents in Lloyd and other communities may have received materials on their front door inviting the homeowners to leave a water sample for a free water test/evaluation. Town officials said the kits are not authorized by the town, but likely being conducted by a company trying to sell water softners.
The water leaving the plant is tested weekly for hardness with the results ranging from 60 to 90 ppm which is considered soft on the hardness scale.
