Final Plattekill 2020 town budget is official

The Plattekill Town Board passed a resolution officially adopting the 2020 town budget during their November 20 Town Board meeting. The preliminary budget, which was discussed and approved at a public budget hearing on November 6, included a tax increase falling slightly under 1%. After reviewing the preliminary budget, and removing unnecessary expenses, including the cost of training newly elected officials, Supervisor Joseph Croce was able to further lower the tax increase. The final Town of Plattekill 2020 budget includes a tax increase of 0.67%. The 2020 Town Budget is the first budget that includes a tax increase since 2013.

Everyday Angels ask for toy donations
Everyday Angels, a volunteer organization devoted to helping those in need throughout the Hudson Valley, contacted the Plattekill Town Board requesting permission to place a toy collection box in the lobby of the Plattekill Town Hall. The Everyday Angels will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to distribute to the children at Plattekill Elementary School on December 16. Santa, assisted by representatives of the U.S. Marines, will hand out toys at the holiday event. To ensure that Santa has enough toys, Everyday Angels need to collect 420 toys. Those interested in donating a new, unwrapped toy to the Everyday Angels can bring their toy to the Plattekill Town Hall.

Library sale finalized
On November 15, the sale of the Plattekill Public Library from the Town of Plattekill to the Plattekill Library Board was finalized. The proceeds from the sale have been deposited into the Town of Plattekill general fund. The Town Board will discuss at a future Town Board meeting how to best utilize these proceeds.

Walden Motocross asks to hold spring open practice day
The Plattekill Town Board received an email from Walden Motocross, asking permission to host an open practice day on May 9, 2020. The open practice day falls on Mother’s Day weekend. All Town Board members agreed that Walden Motocross have always been considerate to their neighbors and the Town of Plattekill in regards to the noise generated from their motocross events. The Town Board agreed to allow Walden Motocross to hold the May 9, 2020 open practice day.

The next meeting of the Plattekill Town Board will be held on December 4 starting at 7 p.m. at the Plattekill Town Hall.
