The Town of Newburgh was shaken by a fatal shooting this past Sunday. Just after 8 a.m. police received reports of shots fired at a single-family home on 1751 Route 300 in the Chadwick Lake area.

Police discovered three deceased in the home. The deceased were 27-year-old Jimmy Crisantos, 26-year-old Shatavia Crisantos, and Shatavia’s son, nine-year-old Giovanni Tambino. A three-year-old boy was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds, and was moved to the Westchester Medical Center. He is in critical but stable condition. Officials believe there was a third child in the home at the time, who was uninjured.

“The investigation is as you can tell extremely active,” said Town of Newburgh Police Lt. James Nenni on Sunday afternoon. “We’re working in conjunction with the state police, and the Orange County DA’s office.” The Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force is also involved in the investigation.

Town of Newburgh Police announced Monday that Kaleik Goode-Ford, 30, of Newburgh had been charged with the triple homicide. A relationship was confirmed between the victims and Goode-Ford. He is also believed to be the lone shooter in the incident. He was arraigned on three counts of murder in the second degree, one count of attempted murder in the second degree, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, as well as additional lesser charges.

Police have not said if the weapon used in the murders has been recovered, but on Monday, State Police divers were searching in the waters of the Hudson River, near the Walkway Over the Hudson in Highland for a possible weapon used in the shooting.

On Tuesday, Goode-Ford was sentenced to seven years in prison in connection with an earlier, unrelated crime.

Goode-Ford had pled guilty in an October 2016 incident to attempted possession of a weapon. Following Monday’s arrest, Judge Freehill moved the case for sentence, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
