In a brief, 10-minute work session, the Newburgh Town Council, appointed two new court officers, purchased a new telephone system for town hall and awarded a plumbing contract for work on a town-owned building.

At Monday night’s meeting, the council approved the appointment of Charles Paris and Duewayne Jackson as part-time court officers at a rate of $18/hour.

The board also approved a telephone system to replace the antiquated one at town hall at a cost of $18,000.
The council awarded a contract to Chanowitz Plumbing for $11,168 for sewer work at town-owned property at 21 Hudson Valley Plaza. The building will become the new home of the town’s code compliance department - zoning, planning and fire inspector - according to Councilman Paul Ruggiero.

In other business, the council released the landscape security deposit of $7,920 posted by the developer of Noah Estates, approved a bid schedule for Roseton Sewer District improvements, and authorized Town Engineer James Osborne to solicit a design engineering proposal to replace the Elmhurst Avenue culvert which is in poor shape. Town will solicit proposals and will include the fee in 2020 highway budget.
