Hello New Windsor. The other day I was really excited to make myself a ham and cheese sandwich on delicious homemade Italian bread from a local bakery.
It was a beautiful day and I decided to eat my sandwich on the back deck as I watched my kids playing in the back yard. Our dogs were out back playing as well so I knew I would have to keep a close eye on my sandwich or they would try to steal it.
As I stepped through the sliding glass door a blur of black appeared from the corner of my eye as my two year old half Lab half Doberman Homer leapt in the air from out of nowhere and snatched my sandwich off my plate and took off with it. I never saw him jump so high. Dejected I went back inside and there was just enough cold cuts and bread to make one more sandwich.
Just as I was about to sit down to eat it my four year old son Anthony walked in and says “Dad can I have that sandwich it looks so yummy.” So I gave him my sandwich and had a leftover piece of pizza for lunch instead. I am glad Homer and Anthony got to enjoy it though!

The Town of New Windsor began opening town offices to the public once again on Monday June 1. The Town’s court officers will be screening temperatures of all visitors and face coverings or masks will be required. The safety of the town employees and visitors is of the utmost concern to Supervisor Meyers and the Town Board.

Town Hall will be open to the public with reduced hours from 11a.m. to 3p.m. Monday through Friday. Social distancing will be in effect with specific waiting areas for each office. The town asks for everyone’s cooperation with this reopening and to follow the directions of the court officers and Town employees. Thank you for everyone’s understanding to this matter.

The Town of New Windsor Recreation Department had 12 entries for the New Windsor’s Got Talent Virtual Talent show. We had to change the age brackets a little so we could have two winners from the 12 and under bracket since we had nine entries, and we only had one entry in the next age bracket 13-18 so we combined it with the 19 and over and there will be one winner in that division.
Please go to New Windsor’s Facebook page to vote on the two age brackets and the three winners will receive a $60 gift certificate to Mama Teresa’s Italian Eatery. Then we will have the public vote again from the top three and pick a grand prize winner who will win a pair of Apple Air Pods. We had some really great entries so please make sure you check out the videos and place your vote. There were singers, dancers, gymnasts, someone doing basketball trick shots, a comedian, someone playing the piano, and someone doing tricks with their dogs.
Voting will be open through Sunday June 7.

The next New Windsor Town Board meeting will be held virtually tonight, Wednesday June 3 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be streamed live on the Town of New Windsor’s Facebook page. More information on this meeting can be found on the Town’s website at newwindsor-ny.gov.

Birthday shout outs this week go to John Tucci and Kevin Thompson whose birthdays are on June 5, to Claire Benson whose birthday is on June 8, and to anyone else out there celebrating birthdays this week Happy Birthday!
