Malcolm Andrew Glenn, of Newburgh, the only son of Lt. Col. Ned Woods Glenn and Bobbie Glenn Collins died of the Coronavirus on May 6, 2020 at Wingate, Beacon.

Mac was born on April 7, 1941, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Though he was born with cerebral palsy, Mac worked hard all his life to overcome challenges he faced and enjoy the pleasures of family and friends. Mac graduated from NFA in 1962, completed his education at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia, and became a skilled woodworker and furniture refinisher.

He was a chorister at school and continued singing, joining the choir at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Newburgh. He also was devoted to organ music and would gladly play for any captive audience. Mac was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in his youth, of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee of Newburgh, and the Newburgh Heights Association for many years. A fixture in Newburgh’s Washington Heights community, Mac for years helped man block watches, worked on beautification efforts, worked the polls during scores of elections, and served as caretaker of the neighborhood’s bluff overlooking the Hudson. He was always glad to pass the time with friends and neighbors, chatting about local happenings or sharing his profound appreciation for the everchanging moods of the river and its mountains.

He is mourned by his sister, Deirdre Glenn, at home, nephews, Dr. John C. Lantis of New York and Colin de Paor of Philadelphia, their wives, Jane Royal and Kristen White, and great nephews, John C. Lantis III, Caleb B. de Paor and Joshua L. de Paor, as well as by numerous cousins, particularly the Havilands of the Town of Newburgh, Jacqueline Maskey of New York and Dr. Cecile Gleason of Vorheesville, NY.

A memorial service will be planned at St. George’s Church, Newburgh when we can all safely meet. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to support the work of St. George’s, Newburgh or to Calvary Presbyterian Church, Newburgh.

Arrangements are under the care of White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY.
