Anthony LoBiondo, attorney, business owner, and lifelong resident of the Town of Newburgh, has announced his candidacy for the Town of Newburgh Council. There is a vacancy on the Council due to the resignation of James Presutti and a special election will be held in November to fill the remainder of the now vacant term.

“I have lived in the town of Newburgh my entire life and have been active in the community. I look forward to putting my skills as an attorney and my roots in the community to use as a member of the Town of Newburgh Town Council,” said LoBiondo.

LoBiondo has been an attorney since 1991. He served as a prosecutor in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office from 1991 to 1997, including time as the Supervisor of the City of Newburgh satellite office. He has been in private practice since 1997, and is currently a trial attorney at LoBiondo Law Offices, in Newburgh, a firm which he co-owns with his wife, Juliana LoBiondo.

LoBiondo has served on the Town of Newburgh Republican Committee, from 2004 to the present and is currently the Vice Chair of the Committee. In addition to his numerous legal activities, LoBiondo is active in the community. Among many activities, he is the Vice President and a founding member of America Rows and Swims Newburgh, a not for profit organization which provides free learn to swim classes, after school rowing programs and summer camp opportunities for children in Newburgh. He is also a founder of the LoBiondo Family Foundation, which provides an annual scholarship to a graduating senior at Newburgh Free Academy. He is a member of the United States Air Force Academy Parents Club, Capital District Region Chapter; the Don Bosco Prep Father’s Club; and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Rights Society and the Newburgh Rowing Club.

LoBiondo resides in the Town of Newburgh, with his wife of 22 years and law partner, Juliana LoBiondo. They have two sons. Christian LoBiondo is a Cadet Second Class at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Their son, Michael LoBiondo, is a sophomore at Don Bosco Preparatory High School.

Town of Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio announced last week the Town Board is seeking candidates to fill a vacancy created when Presutti resigned to become the town’s commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.

All interested candidates are asked to respond with a cover letter and resume by email or mail to: town-clerk@townofnewburgh.org or Town Clerk; 1496 Route 300, Newburgh, NY 12550.
