I have had the opportunity to know Kelly Allegra, candidate for Town Clerk of New Windsor roughly four years. Kelly is a leader not only in her hometown with her role in the local PTO and her daughter’s Girl Scout Troops, but at the State and Federal level as well.

Together we have fought many battles. In New York, Kelly led the charge to support funding for Home Modification funding which would allow many New Yorkers to make upgrades (such as a wheelchair ramp to their homes or a grab bar in their bathroom) to their homes to give people the dignity they deserve to stay in their homes. Kelly also has fought for the last four years to ensure insurance companies cannot take away your prescription drugs, a practice known as “non-medical switching.” This law passed with overwhelming bipartisan support this year and if Governor Cuomo signs this piece of legislation into law, it will be the strongest law on the books in the country. Kelly has also taken her strong voice to Capitol Hill in Washington DC to fight for cost controls and transparency in prescription drug pricing. The high costs of drugs continue to rise in this country, and Kelly has the ability to work across party lines to advocate for a change.

Kelly is a woman of her word, dependable, organized and a kind human being. She knows what needs to happen to get the job done and Kelly will make a great Town Clerk for New Windsor.
