On Saturday, September 19,  at approximately 11:14 p.m., the City of Newburgh Police Department responded to the area of 332 Liberty Street for the report of shots fired.

Upon arrival officers located a male laying in front of 332 Liberty Street. The male had sustained several gunshot wounds. Officers on scene requested an ambulance and began life saving measures. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The decedent is being identified as City of Newburgh resident Jamie Fincher, age 35.

This incident is under active investigation by the City of Newburgh Police Department, New York State Police Major Crimes, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. No further information will be released at this time.
