Friendly Visitor’s Program is there to help

Hello New Windsor. My grandmother’s birthday was on Valentine’s Day. She would have been 101 years old this year. We love you Gran and miss you so much. Happy Birthday in Heaven!

The Town’s New Friendly Visitors Program which is a partnership with the Town of New Windsor, the Jewish Family Service of Orange County and Orange County Office for the Aging. This program is geared towards assisting seniors and those with a handicap with transportation to doctor appointments, grocery shopping etc.

Besides transportation volunteers may also visit with an older neighbor, play games with them, read to them, etc. This program is a terrific program that helps so many people allowing them to stay independent which for an older adult is something that they cherish.

If you or someone you know that lives in New Windsor and is in need of such a service or you are interested in volunteering please call 845-563-4640.

Join the Town of New Windsor Recreation Department and the professional instructors from Ms. Claire’s Music Cupboard for a four week once a week 45 minute music class where participants will sing, learn, say rhymes, play instruments, and move to the beat of lively songs. They will discover new words, build important listening skills, and gain confidence speaking, and overall becoming more rounded individuals. Each participant will receive digital materials for home use.

This program is for ages 0 to school age and will take place on Friday’s from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. starting on Friday February 22 at the New Windsor Recreation Hall.

The price for the class is $70 per child.

Join the Town of New Windsor Recreation department for the following upcoming trips: On Friday March 29th there is a day trip to Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs Casino with the bus leaving Town Hall at 8 a.m. and returning at 7 p.m. The price of the trip is $35 and includes a $25 gambling voucher and $5 food credit.

Then on Wednesday May 1st there is a trip to Citi Field for a Major League Baseball game to see the home team New York Mets take on the Cincinnati Reds. The bus leaves New Windsor Town Hall Complex at 4 p.m. for a 7:10 p.m. game. The seats are located on Field Level Section 124. The price is $90 per person and includes bus ride and ticket to the game.

Then on Thursday May 9 the Recreation Department will be heading to Yankee Stadium to see a game between the home team New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners. The bus is leaving the new Windsor Town Hall Complex at 3:30pm for a 6:35pm game. The seats are located on Field Level Section 130. The price is $90 per person which includes the bus ride and ticket to the game.

The Senior Matinee movie is held every Tuesday at the Marasco Center at 11:30 a.m. The movie for Tuesday February 19th is “The Old Man and a Gun.” A crime drama based on the life of Forest Tucker, an infamous septuagenarian robber and escape artist.

After escaping from San Quentin State Prison in 1979, he embarks on a spree of solo bank robberies. The film stars Robert Redford.
