Dionisia Rivera was a 50-year resident of Newburgh, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. On June 30, 2020 she entered into rest in the company of her loving family. She was the daughter of Eugenio Santos and Ceferina Hernandez Amequita. She was born on February 4, 1926 in Tela, Dpto. de Atlantida, Honduras. She was married to the late Tulio A. Rivera on October 31, 1949 in El Progreso, Honduras.
Cooking was one of her greatest joys and it showed by how much we loved her culinary creations. She had a saying, “My food is delicious because I cook with love.”
She leaves behind a great legacy. Her impact on our lives will be felt by sixty-one direct descendants that she leaves behind.
She is survived by children: Miriam Rivera, Vilma Rivera, Tulio and Eufemia Rivera, Sandra and Oscar Cruz, Adolfo and Lisa Rivera, Maria Rivera and Vicente Rozas, German and Mayleen Rivera, daughter-in-law Donna Rivera; sister Daisy Merino; grandchildren: Adolfo A. Rivera, Nicole Rivera, Daniella Rivera, Christina Langston, Joseph Miceli, Sabrina Cruz, Ernesto Cruz, Samuel Cruz, Alexa Rivera, Luis Salgado, Rolando Salgado, Alejandro Salgado, Arturo Rivera, Lisa Vega, Dayana Rivera, Maribel Janotti, Maelissa Rivera, Trelinda Greene, Briana Rivera, Carlitos Rivera, Yasmin Montalvo, Mauricio Rivera, Mario Merino, Omar Merino and extended family and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grand-children.
In addition to her husband Tulio, she was predeceased by her son, Carlos A. Rivera, her mother, Ceferina Hernandez Amequita, and her sisters Aurora Hernandez and Amparo Hernandez.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick’s Church, Newburgh, with entombment in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
