On Friday, February 26,1, the City of Newburgh police department received new police department business cards which will be issued and used in conjunction with the City of Newburgh Local Law #2-20, Section 80-3 (Identification of Police Officers).

The cards have the name and badge number of the police officer on the front and contact information for the chief of police on the back.

The Right to Know Act, which mandates police officers to identify themselves to the person they’re arresting with a business card, was adopted by the Newburgh City Council on July 13, 2020.It was further discussed at subsequent meetings in conjunction with Executive Order 203 which mandated the creation of a local police oversight committee.
