City of Newburgh to host fall blood drive

Posted

Blood bank inventories have dropped dangerously low while the need for blood continues to increase. Because of this need, the City of Newburgh is seeking a minimum of 50 donation pledges to schedule a successful blood drive this fall.
The New York Blood Center (nybloodcenter.org), an independent not-for-profit agency that has worked with organizations since 1964 to meet the needs of area hospitals in the Tri-State Region, will manage this drive.
Thousands of men, women, and children need donated blood products each day, and this need could not be met without the dedication of volunteer blood donors. Current processing techniques allow a single blood donation, when separated into components, to help save at least three lives. You can help!
To make your pledge now, please contact Michelle Mills at mmills@cityofnewburgh-ny.gov. You will be contacted with the time, date, and location once enough pledges have been secured.
For confidential medical eligibility questions, please call (800)-688-0900.
