Police Chief Donald Campbell is pleased to announce that the Town of Newburgh Police Department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy.

This is a six week program, which will meet on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., beginning February 25. This program is designed to afford concerned members of the community the opportunity to become familiar with the day to day operations of their police department. Participants will gain a better understanding of the Department’s procedures, responsibilities, and demands in hopes of developing a better understanding of law enforcement activities in their community.

There is no charge to attend. Applicants must be 21 years of age, or college students at least 18 years of age. Citizens who live or work in the Town of Newburgh and have not previously attended one of our Citizen’s Police Academy will be given preference, as space is limited. Applications can be obtained from the Town of Newburgh website. Look under Form Center then go to Police Department heading. Applications are also available at the main desk of Police Headquarters. Completed applications must be submitted no later than Monday February 18, 2020.

Any other requests for information may be directed to Officer Katherine Otero at the Town of Newburgh Police Department at 845-564-1100.
